The Sinking Of The RMS Titanic: A Few Facts

It was crossing the Atlantic Ocean during April 1912. There were 2,223 people on board but only 20 lifeboats with enough room for 1,178. They hit an iceberg; indicating that the temperature of the water was very cold should you end up in it. At this point they were half way across the Atlantic. The nearest vessel to them was 58 miles away which would take it 4 hours to sail to save any survivors. The Titanic sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. The sinking resulted in the death of 1,517 people. It is still one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history.
