Labour Looking For A Fresh Approach – ‘To Reach-Out To The Voters’

What a diverse collection of individuals the candidates for the Labour Party Leadership are. Really? Are they? Let’s have a little look shall we?

First up is Andy Burnham who was educated at his local schools and graduated with a degree in English from Fitzwilliam College at the University of Cambridge. He worked as a researcher for Tessa Jowell from 1994 to 1997.

Now we come to Tristram Hunt. He read History at Trinity College, Cambridge. He undertook postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge and completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 2000. Hunt worked for the Labour Party at Millbank Tower during the 1997 general election and then also worked at party headquarters during the following 2001 general election.

Next is Liz Kendall who studied at Queens’ College, Cambridge, graduating with a first in History in 1993. She was a special adviser to two cabinet ministers, Patricia Hewitt and Harriet Harman.

Then we have Yvette Cooper who went to study at Balliol College, Oxford, where she was awarded first class honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics {the, “I want to be an MP” degree}. She began her career as an economic policy researcher for Shadow Chancellor John Smith in 1990. She is also, as we all know, married to Mr Ed Balls.

Then finally we have Mary Creagh who studied modern languages at Pembroke College, Oxford, where she completed an MA. She worked in Brussels for four years, first as an intern at the European Parliament and then for the European Youth Forum.

So that’s three from Cambridge and two from Oxford. Very difficult to spot any time they had anything that could be could a ‘real’ job; whatever one of those is. Wonder what any of their student fees were!

Hard not to see a bunch of clones who all think exactly the same. With them all having the same background it’s hard to imagine there is going to be a great deal of original thought over what we have suffered in the past. It’s no wonder we are all doomed.
