Drum Kit Owned By Ringo Starr Sold For £1.4 Million

The drum kit that Ringo Starr sat at for ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ and ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’, amongst others, was sold at auction for the princely sum of £1,400,000. Ringo got the Ludwig kit in 1963 and sat with it for over 200 performances.

Also up for grabs was a guitar played by John Lennon and given to Ringo along with some of his famous rings and his very own copy of The Beatles’ White Album with the number 0000001.

The proceeds of the sale will go to the Lotus Foundation which is a charity that was founded by Ringo and wife Barbara Bach.

It seems the famous Ludwig drum kit was picked up by Jim Irsay who is the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, an American Football team.

When asked about his new purchase he said, “It looks brand new; it’s as if it’s hardly been touched!”

{Ok, so it took a long time to tell an old Ringo joke but we couldn’t resist!}
