Private Eye – Time Gollum Gove & Rupert Murdouchebag Were Investigated

The wonderful Ian Hislop had the opportunity to speak to the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee of MPs today. He wasted no time in telling them that an investigation into the relationship between Gollum Gove and The Murdouchebag was long overdue.

Although Gollum is still a ‘hardworking’ MP it seems he can find plenty of time to return to The Times as a columnist and book reviewer. Has he discovered a day of 36 hours? Obviously he has been sacked from his cabinet role but even the ‘job’ of a backbencher is claimed to be a full-time job. Clearly, as we all know, it is bugger-all like a full-time job.

Committee chair, Bernard Jenkins, Harwich and North Essex, {who feels it necessary to put in travel claims for 32p, 45p and 63p} asked Mr Hislop, “Are you seriously suggesting that someone whose profession is journalism should not be allowed to carry on that profession if they are no longer a minister?”

Ian replied: “Well I sat through the entire proceedings of Leveson in which one of the main points was the closeness of the relationship between senior members of the Conservative party and Mr Murdoch.

“Mr Gove’s had a number of meetings with him (Murdoch) when he was in various departments so I think there is a question there about when you’re in office, which is what we’ve talked about, imagining a future when you might need the generosity of, say, Mr Murdoch to sustain your career and whether that would influence the decisions you’ve made.

“That would be absolutely bang on what we’ve been talking about so far. So I think there probably is a question, yeah.”

Jenkins then provided Ian with a wonderful feed when he asked if Gollum Gove could have anticipated being demoted {sacked} to the backbenches on the morning of the shock Brexit result?

“Judging by the look on his face on the morning of Brexit, he wasn’t!!!” Beauty.
