Six Nations: Ireland v England

Ireland really could spoil the party here. It’s in Dublin and it is the day after St Patrick’s Day. It’s difficult to decide if that is a plus or a minus!

For England it means everything. Yes, they have won the 6 Nations but this game would mean the Grand Slam. However, that isn’t the cherry on the cake.

England have recorded 18 straight wins. ONLY the All Blacks have done that in the history of the game. If England can beat Ireland that would be 19 straight wins. Nineteen! No other team in history has EVER done that.

Suddenly the whole game takes on a totally new meaning. THIS could be history. This is the stuff of the speeches from Shakespeare’s Plays, Winston Churchill during the war and Colonel Tim Collins. ‘Cry God for Harry, England, and Saint George!’
