Snatching Their Hot Meal Plan Is Now Condemned By May’s Favourite Chef

Yotam Ottolenghi has said that to cut the hot meal for young children would end the “priceless” experience that children have enjoying a hot meal together. Yotam, for those who don’t know him, is a top chef, a restaurateur and listed as one of May-Day’s favourite cooks.

The Tory manifesto outlined plans to replace free school lunches for infants with a cheaper plan to give all primary school children free breakfasts that come in at under 7p a day! LINK

The Nasty Party are trying to wriggle out of the criticism by saying that poorer children would continue to receive a hot lunch – not that that will single them all out as the ‘Poh Folk’!! The tories really don’t have a clue.

Yotam said, “Free everything is good – breakfast, lunch – but there has been a lot of progress made on the lunch front and I believe schools have been serving proper food for lunch since the free lunches have been introduced.

“I think it would be a real shame to lose it because at lunchtimes all students of the school sit together, as opposed to breakfast where it’s only just a few.

“Social, communal, a sense of cohesion within the school, but also the idea that people sit round and eat real food.”

Yotam joined Jamie Oliver who criticised the tory plans last week, calling them a disgrace.
