Tory Lies Exposed Yet Again Over Education

May-Day just loves her mantra of “record spending” but never mentions inflation and that there are more pupils in our schools than ever before. There NEEDS to be record spending you silly old woman!

That’s not just us saying it but also the Institute for Fiscal Studies. They say that a new Conservative government would leave schools in England worse off financially than they currently are.

May keeps yapping on about “£4bn extra” but in real terms this is only £1bn. That’s a long way short. With pupil numbers continuing to grow it means that investment per pupil will fall 2.8% by 2022.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies says this would require an increase of around £4.8bn in real terms.

Luke Sibieta of the IFS put the comparison between the main parties very starkly. “Labour would increase spending per pupil by around 6% after inflation over the course of the Parliament, taking it to just above its previous historic high in 2015.

“Proposals from the Conservatives would lead to a near 3% real terms fall in spending per pupil over the Parliament, taking it back to its 2010 level.”

This financial crisis comes after 7 years of Tory mismanagement and parents are preparing to hold events in different areas of England to highlight the cash crisis facing our schools. Head teachers have been forced to highlight the tough decisions they have had to make about staffing and resources.

Most damning of all is the assessment by the IFS that has said schools are currently facing the first real terms cut for 20 years. Think about that as you cast your vote on Election Day.
